Okay, I know everyone is dyyyyyiing to know exactly where I’m going to be tonight and I’m gonna tell you.

On the off chance that anyone is from the San Antonio, TX area. Schwabs and I will be at The White Rabbit checking out the Austin-based rock band, Blessing and the Curse. (Some of you may remember the review I did on their EP album, Just Like You. Short recap-they’ve got soul, and they’re awesome!)

There will be over 10 bands playing tonight, cover is only $3 and the drinks are notoriously cheap. Bands start playing at 6 pm, to catch Blessing and the Curse, plan on showing up by 10 pm. Looking forward to a fun show tonight!

I hope you all enjoy your weekend, friends :)

Newsworthy!

Posted by The Pisces Girl in News and Updates on Tuesday Nov 29, 2011

Yesterday, the local news at KSAT interviewed me on my participation in San Antonio’s First Ever Digital Art Show, hosted by Clear Channel.

My painting, Mother’s Love, was one of forty chosen to be displayed on Clear Channel’s digital billboards all across the city-as part of their efforts to showcase local artists. The art show launched today and is scheduled to run for three weeks.

The interview took place right beneath one of the billboards looming high above us. After it was over, Schwabs and I looked up at the sky, in total awe of seeing my art alongside others on such a magnificent scale. I never could have imagined such a thing, but I am deeply honored to be part of this amazing project.

Thank you a million times, Clear Channel, for displaying my beautiful city’s talent, front and center.

To see the interview and a slide show of the billboards, visit KSAT. To view all of the art, photos will soon be posted on Clear Channel-San Antonio Outdoor ‘s Facebook page.  (I would be beyond flattered if you could ‘like’ the page and my painting.)

Maybe I’ll get picked, and the more buzz generated, the better!

Hope this finds you all happy, well and enjoying your passions to the fullest.

Random Thought of the Moment

Posted by The Pisces Girl in News and Updates on Friday Jul 22, 2011

Happy Friday Errrrr’body!

Don’t know if anyone has noticed lately, but I added a new feature in the sidebar to the right of this page. I’m calling it “Random Thought of the Moment”…I know, very original, don’t everybody run out to steal it now. I already stole the idea from Facebook, who probably stole the idea from Myspace, who probably stole the idea from someplace else, but to keep things simple, lets just pretend I came up with this brilliant idea all on my own.

Anyways, here is where I will put anything that suits my fancy. Sometimes, I hear quotes, songs, jokes, phrases, prayers and all sorts of randomness that causes me to take pause. And sometimes, these flashes of genius originate from my own mind (*ahem* such modesty.) When that happens, I now have a place dedicated to showcase it. Enter- the Random Thought of the Moment.

Originally, I was going to call it  “Random Thought of the Day”, but then I realized things don’t always hit me everyday…just in moments. So even when I can’t find the time to sit and write the way I want to, I can always take a few minutes to reach out and say something. Consider it my very own personal “Facebook Status”, minus all the annoying stuff.

Unlike Facebook, you won’t find me listing the random stuff I ate today, or what store I shopped at, or the “hilarious” (I hope you sense the sarcasm there) thing that my neighbor’s dog did last night, or alllllll the other useless crap that you could give a rat’s ass about. You’ll only find little bits of things that make me go “hmmmmm.” And if you like it, sorry, there’s no button for you to push “like”, you’ll just have to visit again! And if you don’t, it’s in a nice enough place that you can just ignore it.

I would love, love, love to make readers a part of this, so if you come across anything that fits, shoot me a one-liner and maybe you’ll be the reason for my next thought of the moment!  Hope you’ll enjoy the randomness as much as I enjoy sharing it with you.

Enjoy the weekend, Friends :)

Blessing & The Curse

Blessing & The Curse, Austin, TX

I recently had the opportunity to hear a sneak-peek of the debut album of Blessing & The Curse, a rock group based out of Austin, TX (also known as “the live-music capital of the world.”)

If you’re looking for new music to discover, you just may find a treasure in Blessing and the Curse, who offers a mix of catchy beats, intense lyrics, and melodic vocals. Theirs is a blend that pays homage to classic 70′s rock, the heavy passion of the 90′s and Texas blues, creating a modern day sound that becomes them-a blessing because the music makes you feel good, a curse because it leaves you hooked, wanting more.

Their EP album, “Just Like You,” takes listeners on a musical and thought-provoking journey starting with the raspy vocals of Choice and Consequence and the catchy, guitar-driven beats of the album’s namesake, Just Like You.

Like a siren’s spell, the melodics of Stay With Me Tonight (my favorite) seduces the ear until it crescendos into a full-out rock song, inspiring listeners to sing along and bust out the air-guitar.

In true southern hospitality, Blessing & the Curse offer up a serving of good old-fashioned comfort music: accessible and familiar. Yet, as all good hosts, they put their own spin to create a recipe that is uniquely their own. It’s in a subtle secret ingredient: a dramatic vocal, bluntly honest lyric, catchy guitar riff, or moving percussion.

Whatever it is, yes…And another helping please!

For more info on Blessing & the Curse, like upcoming shows and how to get a free song for download, please visit their site.

VRM Studios Grand Opening!

Posted by The Pisces Girl in News and Updates on Saturday Dec 11, 2010

Well folks, I’ve finally done it. After much talk, I’ve finally created my own online art shop on Etsy…and I couldn’t be more excited to have a homebase from which to offer my creative works to the public. It feels like one more step towards making my dream of being my own boss a reality. I’d be honored if you took the time to visit, heart my shop if you like and pass along the link to any one who might be interested.

Right now, I have a few of my earlier pieces for sale, but as the Schwabs told me yesterday, “now you’ve gotta add more to the inventory….” I intend to do just that. Please be on the lookout in the upcoming months as I will be locking myself up to paint, paint, paint. I hope to soon add more original paintings, fine art prints, greeting cards, painted glassware and more to the mix.

Thank you, all my friends, for your continued love and support. I wouldn’t have had the courage to put myself out there, otherwise.

Now, click on the link below and visit my shop!!!!!!!!! ;)
